I feel like living life the way we’re “supposed to” is what f*cks it up.
We grow up and spend our entire lives listening to people with platforms and authority, never asking ourselves what we truly want. We rarely question the things we’re “supposed to do,” even though our lives are our own.
Let’s take a virtue we learned that was negative, like selfishness.
I get that we don’t want to run over other people, but, there’s a vast difference in learning the habit of treating other people well and constantly putting yourself last.
Layer putting yourself last with all the other things we’re “supposed to do,” like never quitting, not making waves, or staying together for the children, and there’s no wonder the depression rates are what they are.
What about you? What would your life look like if you stopped doing the things you’re supposed to do?
If you replaced sacrifice with creativity, how could your life improve for yourself and the people in it?
You don’t have to do what you’re supposed to do, ya know.
The rules are mostly made up.
It’s your life. You get to call the shots.💕
